Gastrofilberscopic findings of healthy persons examind for the secondary prevention


Abstract
At present, the prevention of many chronic diseases depends largely upon early detection, that is secondary prevention. Usually this implies the discovery of cases by means of h-: th examination. The health examination seeks to identify hidden early diseases or an unhealthy state or a risk factor in healthy persons before persons are aware of any health problem.
The results of gastrofiberscopy from 264 healthy persons examined for the secondary prevention are reported. 264 persons were examined by gastrofiberscopy and asked sex, age, occupational histories, past histories, alcohol consumption, smoking, preference of salty foods, life stresses, and digestive symptoms.
The gastrofiberscopic findings were normal in 31.4% and abnormal in 68.6%, The abnormal findings were found in 54.6% of stomach, 7.5% of duodenum, 2.3% of esophagus, and 4.2% of the combinations of stomach, duodenum and esophagus.
The abnormal findings were inflammation in 57.6%, ulcer in 7.6%, early gastric cancer in 0.8%, polyp in 1.1%, and others in 1.5%. The types of inflammation that was the most frequent prevalence were atrophic gastritis in 26.1%, intestinal metaplasia in 1.5%, superficial gastritis in 6.4%, erosive gastritis in 4.4%, hemorrhagic gastritis in 1.9%, and others in 7. %.
Smoking was positively associated with abnormal gastrofiberscopic findings in males and age increment and mild digestive symptoms in females. Associations of gastrofiber is findings with sex, occupational histories, alcohol consumption, preference of salty foods, d life stresses were not noted.
